“The moment I got engaged, after the champagne and happy tears, I knew Paper to Lace were going to make my dream dress. I had initial ideas for what I wanted, but really needed the expertise and professional vision to bring it to life. The fittings were always the best part of my week... laughs, more happy tears and a wedding dress that was one in a million. Smack bang in the middle of all of this... about 8 weeks before the big day... I fell pregnant. Of course I was over-joyed, and now a mum to a gorgeous baby girl, but my thoughts did turn towards how this dress would now fit. But I was in the best hands possible... the girls from Paper to Lace literally made my dream dress to fit me AND my growing bump. I didn’t feel like I needed to hide behind rolls of material as I walked down the aisle. Becky and Cristina adapted their initial “pre-Preggo” design to fit my growing body and to perfectly celebrate it. “The Paper to Lace team are brilliant, I enjoyed every step of creating my wedding dress. They’re clever, creative and brilliant at problem solving. They took my bunch of wild ideas and created the most perfect wedding dress – elegant, glamorous and 100% me. I never felt judged (for insisting that I be able to play the harp and row a boat in my dress) or pushed towards something I didn’t want. I chose to include fabric from my grandmother’s wedding dress in my own and they found creative ways of showing it off while being completely respectful and aware of the emotion behind it. I was given a hundred chances to make changes and all the info I needed to make decisions (including a dreamy trip around Soho fabric hunting). “By a way of background, I am an interior designer living in the suburbs of London. Being a designer I had a lot of different ideas that I wanted to incorporate into my dream dress. We had our wedding in Italy, so I wanted a dress that was fairly lightweight and relatively easy to transport. But first of all it had to have the WOW look, and I knew Paper to Lace would not disappoint in achieving this for me!
I started by looking at off-the-rail dresses to have an idea of what suited me, but I knew early on that I wanted to have my dress made bespoke. I knew if had this made for me it would tick all my boxes!
Cristina and Becky were the perfect fit! They guided me from the very start by homing in on all my different ideas and coming up with various design concepts. We had shopping trips to find the right material and finishes. They also created three beautiful bridesmaid dresses which were light and elegant, perfect for the Tuscan weather.
The final dress and veil was so beautiful, I cannot recommended these lovely ladies enough. They are incredibly talented, wearing my dress made me feel so special, it was perfect!”
"What could be more special than having your bridal wear designed bespoke just for you? Having Paper to Lace do it! What a dream it was to have Becky and Cristina design and make the outfit for my legal ceremony... we discussed ideas, mocked up mood boards and shared inspiration... but the day I received the sketches of my jumpsuit I still got shivers down my spine! I loved going in for fittings at their studio and seeing how the design progressed into the finished piece – and getting to make small adjustments so it felt and looked good was so easy with them. What I wasn’t expecting was how Cristina and Becky designed the jumpsuit to flatter my figure SO well! They really know how to work with fabric and cut to flatter your figure. I was really keen on having items I could wear again from the wedding – I hate the thought of having something so special sat in the closet forever! So we also came up with the concept for a bag – white velvet with black beading and fringing. Paper to Lace collaborated with the amazing Retrospective Jewellery (who made my star and moon earrings and headpiece) so the bag had a silver bangle as a handle in keeping with the rest of the look. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and can’t wait to swish it around the dance floor again! I also selected one of their kimonos to wear as a cover up (saving me from worrying about unpredictable British weather) and I loved wearing it again on my honeymoon in Sri Lanka... I’m sure it will have many more outings over the years to come! 1 month later and I’m already missing our bridal fittings! Thank you Paper to Lace for making my bridal dreams come true"
“Cristina, Becky & I planned to make my wedding dress one morning over a breakfast of eggs. I wanted rock & roll. I wanted over the top vintage glamour. I wanted something that didn’t exist in real life. I wanted something that looked like it had fallen out of the sky from a Zac-Posen-planet serving Japanese couture realness. What a ludicrous brief, but boy oh boy did they deliver. Not only that, but they managed to sew in a David Bowie-inspired lightning bolt too. It was a feat of engineering of silk and sequins. What talented badass birds they are. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. They were such a dream to deal with. I loved them so much, I invited them to my wedding.”

Paper to Lace did the most amazing job with my bespoke headpiece, it completely surpassed my expectations and I can now say, looking at pictures and videos of the wedding day, that it was THE element that completely made my outfit! I had a wedding dress I loved, but I feared was a bit too plain and romantic for me...I wanted something bold and memorable that would go with it but also stood out...and would be easy to wear and not get in the way...oh and by the way, that would assuage my self-consciousness about my less than voluminous locks...Easy brief, eh?! I NEVER had thought I’d wear a giant silk flower and a veil on my head, but it all felt natural and just the thing once Cristina and Becky got sketching. The final result was striking, and the best part is that I got to wear the headpiece again for another wedding, with a different dress of course...Can’t praise Paper To Lace enough xx
