Feature Veils

It's been a pretty busy summer of weddings and while we wait for all the lovely photographs of our bespoke brides to start coming through we wanted to take a moment to talk about veils. We made a custom version of our Lady Stardust veil for Jess (blog piece coming soon!) and the way it captured the

What a treat this was for us to work on. A longtime friend of ours, Jess, asked us to make her dress and when she showed us her ideas we couldn't wait to get started. She showed us inspiration images from Alexander McQueen with dark beading and embroidered stars and we instantly

The I Feel Love Skirt is one of our favourite pieces hanging up on the rail in our studio. Every now and again we see it catching the light and its brings us such joy (if a little distracting!)It is made from nearly 8 metres of a silk chiffon which has a very fine gold metallic stripe running through.

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams

Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams" is a very appropriate title for this exhibition. This weekend we finally made it down to the V&A to see it and we were not disappointed. We had previously travelled to Paris in 2017 to see the same exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs

Spread the love

Last month we were lucky enough to collaborate with some wonderfully talented people to shoot the newest additions to our collection. We make everything in our London studio so it seemed to make sense to showcase some of the city we love alongside our new pieces. We both love the Barbican

It's no big news that veganism and the disposable plastics revolution have had a huge effect on people's mindset and changing attitudes the past couple of years. But with the recent exhibition at the V&A, "Fashioned from Nature", it inspired us to take a closer look

Movie Night – Top 5 dresses

Whilst we welcome the excitement and promise of a new year we have to admit that January can be a bit dark and cold, the perfect time to tuck up indoors in front of a good movie. We've both worked in costume so get a huge amount of our inspiration from film as well as finding it can be a really

Designing our first collection was never going to be an easy task, not for lack of ideas, but because we had far too many! We love making bespoke dresses for our brides and over the years it's meant coming across lots of ideas and fabrics that have inspired us and led to a lot of "this would

New modern day corset

I guess I should start by saying that what we make is not really a corset in its traditional meaning. The idea of having laces at the back which pull you in to make your waist smaller is a very old-fashioned practice. Rather, when we make a boned bodice for someone it is made exactly

Starting a new bespoke wedding dress is always an exciting time at Paper to Lace but with Ruth it was an extra special honour for us as she's been a close friend of ours for many years. We began as we often do by looking at pictures of dresses Ruth liked and talking about her inspirations and the

Hello everyone! So for our first blog post it's probably best to start by introducing ourselves. We are Cristina and Becky and we are Paper to Lace. We both started our careers working in costume for film and theatre, and then after several musings of "oh, wouldn't it be nice to have our
